My intention with the residency was to paint landscapes.  So my first piece, naturally, was a landscape — the view out the window of my studio.  I was very happy with this piece but recognized that it felt too familiar.  It did not challenge my process.  I decided to “dismantle” both this landscape and my painting technique with my next piece.
