Art Residency - Chateau Orquevaux, Orquevaux France
These pieces were painted during my Art Residency in Orquevaux, France in May 2018. This body of work is wholly representative of my artistic journey there. Initially focused on the desire to paint landscapes, my mission quickly shifted to painting style over subject matter — adopting a looser hand and a more instinctive approach. The experience of being at this magical spot, feeding off the beauty of the landscape and the architecture in both it’s refined and unrefined state, was truly transcendent. I returned home a different painter, deeply appreciative of the experience.
